#UCLday is a traditional and interactive event and naturally we organized it once again this year. The event lets visitors learn about the study at Unicorn College, hear lectures on topics from information technology, statistics or self-development. The accompanying programme offered participants an opportunity to try out modern technology or see the Micorsoft stand.
The lectures took 20 minutes each and participants could find out first hand what studying at Unicorn College feels like. The initial presentation of the school itself, prepared by its Managing Director, Marek Beránek, was followed by Pavel Bory and his lecture on Fun Programming. Then, Karel Šafr took the stage with his lecture on the World of Numbers. The Managing Director at Vigour, Václav Žárský, introduced another interesting topic, namely No Experience? Think Again! It focused on employers' expectations, where to gain first experience, what possibilities one has at Unicorn and how to make the first step. Lukáš Bajer continued with a lecture on the Internet of Things and the lecture block concluded with Zuzana Boháčová and her speech on Stress Management.
The event participants also attended the accompanying programme to try out working with Ozobots, virtual reality by means of HTC Vive or to find out what merging reality and the virtual world by means of the Hololens headset looks like. Microsoft also had a stand at the event and let visitors test various features, for example the Surface Studio or Xbox One kinect.
Towards the end of the event came a lottery with a year of scholarship at Unicorn College as its prize, won by a secondary school student, Lukáš Zima. Congratulations!
We'd like to thank all participants for their attendance and we're looking forward to meeting some of you at enrolment for the first year.
